Uno dei dischi capolavoro del chitarrista/polistrumentista Fred Frith qui in buona compagnia con Bill Laswell al basso e Fred Maher alla batteria. Il tutto condito da decine di altri strumenti e musicisti che arricchiscono un album già di per se ricco di spunti. Per orientarci nell'immenso corpus frithiano (il nome del buon Fred compare in oltre 400 album), basti sapere che Speechless è il suo terzo album da solista. Come il precedente (l'altrettanto valido Gravity), anche questo è uscito sotto la mitica Ralph Records (la casa discografica fondata dai Residents). Ogni pezzo è un mondo a parte. Come dice il titolo, un disco che ti lascia senza parole.
